You’re gunna be ok.
Have you ever resourced to harm reduction? If you’re not familiar with harm reduction, it can mean many things. Personally, nicotine, cutting, and coffee are my go-to’s. I refuse to relapse on drugs, so I e-vape at times. I cut when I romanticize suicide and I drink coffee, well because, it’s awesome. I love a little head change.
I want to check in about suicide for a second. It’s taboo but should not be shamed. My NA sponsor suggests I commit suicide while I’m fully balanced. I know that sounds crazy, but check it out. If my medications are stable, I have a routine, exercise regularly, eat clean, and reach out to folks so I’m not lonely, and I still feel the ideation, then go for it. Tom’s logic is, there is a very small suicidal percentage if I’m doing hella self care. I most likely won’t make a permanent decision based on a temporary feeling.
Harm reduction can be lifesaving, literally. Please, let’s shy away from judgement. We might be unaware of our best friend’s mental health status, or even acknowledge our own struggle. If you are feeling helpless, hopeless, desperate, and lonely, it’s totally ok. Your higher power didn’t bring you this far to let you down. Give yourself a hug today.
